Exhibition 1: PERSONAL PREFERENCES: April to June 2009

Andrea Farmer and Glynnis Dye give us evocative landscapes that contrast with Kitty Guthrie’s bright, irreverent gouache illustrations. The delicacy of Charlotte Day’s oriental birds and flowers sit alongside the earthiness of Fred Salter’s energetically painted fungi. Jenny Hill’s abstraction is part of an exploratory series in different media as are Jacqui Galise’s printed fabric collages. Ralf Overill’s printed city figures and Fran Wilde’s videod steps have their own nightmares.

The artists’ thoughts on space are as wide ranging as space itself: from vastness of The Final Frontier to the intimacy of a Humming Bird addressing a flower; from how the artists see the physicality of space to their emotional responses to it.
